(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The city of Evanston is competing in Toronto this summer after winning a contest for the best tasting tap water in Illinois.

Evanston won at Watercon or the American Water Works Association conference in Springfield last month. The Daily Northwestern reports Darrell King, chief of the city’s Water Production Bureau gives credit to Lake Michigan- saying "like the food we eat, you want it from a really good source."

He and his staff will go up against other winners in the states and Canada in June. The last time an Illinois municipality won was in 2007 and 2006 was when Champaign was crowned best of the best.
