(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Curtis Brown died of a heart attack at the age of 47. His body was taken to the Collins and Stone Funeral Home.

The next day, a funeral home van was stolen — with Brown’s body inside. Police said the van was left unlocked and running.

Brown’s family is furious.

His brother, Ed, and his aunt, Sharon Pearson, spoke to CBS 23 in Rockford.

“The question that I have is, why did it take them until Monday to inform us what was going on,” Ed told CBS 23. “It doesn’t make sense to us. They make me feel like they neglected him in some type of way.”

Pearson said her sister is looking to sue.

“She was at peace with his passing, but for his body to get stolen, now it’s an outrage,” she said.

The van was found in Chicago on Sunday.

Brown’s body was found the next day, dumped in a South Side alley.
