ISLAND LAKE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A grocery store that has served Island Lake for 50 years is not closing this month as announced two weeks ago.
The owners of Island Foods said they’ll stay open through the end of the year. In a Facebook post, the family-owned company said it’s having what it calls ‘very promising’ negotiations with several groups interested in taking over.
Fans of ham salad and other offerings at the grocery store are celebrating online. Last month owners Michele Crisci and Denise Turner had said the store and surrounding properties were being sold.
