CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police are questioning an individual in connection with the shooting death of a pregnant woman, Cook County probation officer Stacey Jones.
Jones, 35, was shot and killed early Tuesday on the South Side. Police said Jones was eight months pregnant when she was shot twice in the back.
Her baby was in critical condition at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital.
Police on Wednesday said they were questioning a person of interest in the shooting death.
Jones had two other children, Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans said in a memo to employees.
Jones started at the county’s probation department in April of last year, he said.
“Our thoughts go out to her family, colleagues and friends at this difficult time,” the judge wrote.
