
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A doctor with a practice in Lombard is facing federal medical fraud charges.
Dr. John Greager II, a general surgeon and owner of Cancer Therapy Associates S.C., is alleged to have submitted fraudulent claims for reimbursement from Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois over a period of six years, from 2015 to 2021.
Greager specialized in removing moles to screen for cancer.
Federal prosecutors said he falsely represented that services, including mole removal, had been provided.
It’s alleged he also removed more moles than medically necessary and fraudulently obtained more than $4 million.
Greager is a resident of Hinsdale.
He’s 74 years old.
Greager was charged with one count of health care fraud, which is punishable by up to ten years in federal prison, if convicted.
