CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A popular cultural festival returns to Humboldt Park this weekend.

The 29th annual Fiesta Boricua will take over Division Street in Humboldt Park between Western and California or as organizers are billing it: "de bandera a bandera," which means "from flag to flag."

It's a reference to the neighborhood's two iconic steel Puerto Rican flags--which gained landmark status this year.

Known as "Paseo Boricua" it's the the economic, political and cultural capital of the Puerto Rican community not only in Chicago, but in the Midwest.

As in years past, this years festival will feature Puerto Rican performances, food, art and a carnival so that festival-goers will experience a total immersion into Puerto Rican culture.

Fiesta Boricua is free, but a $5 donation is encouraged.
