
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting ten cases of monkeypox statewide, nine of them are in Chicago and now a case has been identified in Indiana.
The Indiana Department of Health said the first probable case of monkeypox has been noted, but the patient has not been identified, and the location has not been disclosed.
This case comes during an uptick in monkeypox cases around the world , including 113 confirmed cases of monkeypox in 21 states.
Experts said the risk of monkeypox among the general public continues to be extremely low, and is not easily spread. It usually begins with a fever, a headache and chills.
