(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A group based in the Austin community is asking for help after about 1,000 brand-new donated school uniforms for public and private schools were ruined in the recent flooding.

Hyson Harper, founder of Anchor Chicago, said the rain water in his basement destroyed the school uniforms and other school supplies.

“Think of when you went to school on your first day, how it felt for you to open up a new pair of clothing and put them on,” he said.

The organization has launched an online fundraiser. For more information, click here.
