As the victim of a Lincoln Park shooting and robbery on Friday is fighting for his life, an online fundraiser for him has raised more than $50,000.
Donors to the online campaign share prayers and well wishes for Dakotah Earley. Amber writes, this is not the Chicago that so many of us love and know. John says, to see completely unnecessary acts of violence over cell phones or stealing cars is truly disappointing. Dakotah's brother, DaShawn Earley, posted on Go Fund Me a thank you for the tremendous support and says his brother remains on life support after multiple surgeries.
DaShawn writes his brother has had multiple surgeries already, during which doctors removed part of his colon, and the 23-year-old culinary student could lose part of his jaw and his left leg. But the family will not lose hope or faith, DaShawn writes.
Donations have come from as far away as Canada, many with prayers for Dakotah’s recovery and well wishes.
Police say he was shot during a holdup early Friday morning and a video appears to show the robber shooting him three times at close range.
