CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago will be "singing the Blues" Tuesday night hoping to spread the city's signature music into more neighborhoods.

It's called "Giving For The Blues," and according to Jeff Pinzino, managing director of the Chicago Blues Revival, it's online fundraiser to "support neighborhood news programs on the South and West Sides. You will hear more about the organization and its work. You'll also have a chance to see exclusive performances."

One of those performances will be from Chicago musician and activist Melody Angel.

"It was actually this summer was the first time that I ever was able to perform in my neighborhood, which is Bronzeville. So it was just a really great opportunity to bring music to my community and hopefully in the future as well," she said.

And Pinzino hopes more members of the next generation will be learning the Blues.

"We are hopefully on the verge of launching a high school blues program on the West Side," he said.

And, Pinzino said Chicago is still the Blues capital of the world.

"There's just no competition at this point...The live music, the tradition that is here, still putting out great, new music every night of the week," he said.

Angel added those live shows are still the best, and cannot be duplicated online.

"There's nothing like a live show when you can just feed off the energy of the crowd. There's nothing like the stage," she said.

The online fundraiser begins Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
