(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 16-year-old girl was walking along the Robert McClory bike path in Beach Park Monday night when a man came out of the woods and attacked her.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s office, the man grabbed the girl by her neck, pushed her to the ground and sexually assaulted her at an area just north of Yorkhouse Road.
A witness heard the girl screaming and called 9-1-1.
The attacker ran away and investigators believe he then fled the scene in a vehicle. The suspect is described as being in his 20s, with metal barrettes in his hair.
