14-year-old girl in critical condition after being shot in the face inside her Gresham home: CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A teenage girl was shot in her home Sunday during a home invasion on the South Side.

According to Chicago police, the shooting happened shortly before 5 p.m. in the evening in the 1200 block of West 81st Street in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood. A boy or man had opened the back door of the residence and another boy or man pushed his way in. The two fought and, police said, that’s when the home invader’s gun went off with a bullet striking a 14-year old girl around her face.

She was taken in critical condition to Comer Children’s Hospital. Police are still looking for the shooter.
