(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Business was pretty slow at a Glenview restaurant called Taco-Bout-Joy’s — until the owner’s daughter created what turned out to be a powerful video.
The video, posted on TikTok, showed the owner, Joy Milan, sitting in the empty restaurant looking at the door. The text read: "It breaks my heart to see my mom watching the door everyday waiting for a customer to walk in. I wish I could give her customers for Christmas."
She got her wish.
Millions watched the video, and many showed up. Melissa Diep, who lives nearby, saw the video and responded with one of her own.
“That video has gotten like 24 million views in less than two days, and the restaurant is, like, slammed,” Diep said. “I’m so happy. TikTok came through for them.”
New posts on the restaurant’s social media thanked customers for the support and warned people the wait may be long: possibly an hour long.
“What a Christmas miracle,” said one fan.
A recent Facebook post showed Milan cooking up food with her family. It thanks the "TikTok community" for drawing so much business to the restaurant.
Another one, from Sunday evening, asked customers to order ahead and provided instructions for people to park at a nearby mall, where they could kill time while Taco-Bout-Joy’s prepares their food.
Apparently business has been so strong that it's outgrown the parking lot's capacity.
