(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Naperville gun shop owner is taking his case to the U.S. Supreme Court as he fights an assault weapons ban in the city and state.

Court rulings so far have not gone Robert Bevis's way.

Bevis owns Law Weapons and Supply, a gun shop in Naperville. And he's fighting an assault weapons ban in Naperville and a statewide ban signed by the governor in January.

Last week a federal appeals court denied Bevis's request to put a hold on the ban while court challenges proceed.

Now, Bevis is taking his case to the nation’s highest court, arguing it's a Second Amendment issue and that he's being driven out of business because of the city and state bans on military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines.
