ELGIN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A South Elgin manufacturing company is among the many that have hung out the help wanted signs and are having to get creative to fill positions.
Hoffer Plastics Corporation has had openings since last year, and is offering $1,000 signing bonuses.
Openings include entry-level jobs with competitive pay, according to the company’s Chief Culture Officer Charlotte Canning, one of the third-generation owners. The company is hiring immediately to fill positions in the following departments: Assembly Technician, Inspector Technician, Maintenance Technician, and Tool and Die Maker.
"I think manufacturing has kind of been forgotten about, and I want people to understand the incredible career opportunities that are available, especially to a high school graduating senior. We have tuition reimbursement, we have apprenticeship programs that are fully paid; and I don't feel like many people are aware of the level of opportunity, and certainly aren't aware of how technical, how clean the factories of today are," she said.
