Shooting on I-290 causes temporary shutdown near Elmhurst

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) —  Illinois State Police temporarily shut down all inbound lanes on Interstate 290 near Elmhurst on Tuesday afternoon, as troopers investigated an earlier shooting on the expressway.

State troopers had the inbound lanes closed for nearly an hour.

The shooting happened around North Avenue, and by 4:30 p.m. troopers had the inbound lanes completely blocked off.

Troopers on the scene were looking for shell casings. Initial reports were that shots had been fired at a vehicle.

No injuries were reported from the shooting.
