(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An Illinois man says the NFL tracked him and other users of its website without their consent, and now he wants the league to pay for that.

The class action lawsuit filed by Israel James in federal court in Chicago says the National Football League use computer code to track subscribers on its nfl.com website and then shared the information it gathered with Facebook without the user's consent.

That information included the video viewing history of the nfl.com subscribers as well as their Facebook ID. The lawsuit claims the NFL is violating the federal video Privacy Protection Act by knowingly disclosing user's personal information.

James is seeking at least $2,500 per plaintiff in addition to attorney and court fees and punitive damages to be determined by a jury.
