CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Illinois State Fair will have extra safety measures in place this year.

As the COVID-19 delta variant spreads, officials with the Illinois State Fair have echoed guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Masks will be required indoors and at Grandstand concerts for all attendees, regardless of vaccination status. Face coverings will also be encouraged in large crowds during the fair.

Anyone who's not vaccinated yet can receive a shot at six locations throughout the Springfield fairgrounds.

Grandstand track ticket holders will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.

The Illinois State Fair begins Thursday and runs through Aug. 22.
