CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Cook County health leaders said requests for in-home vaccinations have slowed down a bit in recent weeks, but that the need isn’t going away.
“We’ve continued to see requests every day," said Dr. Jacqueline Korpics, Medical Director of COVID-19 Response with Cook County Health.
She said somewhere between five and 20 residents are still requesting to get their shot at home each day.
“Our program targets older individuals, especially those with mobility problems,” Korpics said. “That’s the majority of the requests that we’re seeing. The elderly, those unable to leave home, or at least not able to leave home very easily.”
Still, Dr. Korpics said with virus variants spreading at a concerning rate, the goal is to bring the vaccines to as many Cook County residents as possible.
“We’re happy to keep it going and we want to keep it going for as long as it’s needed," she said.
