CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Iowa family of a 62-year-old man who disappeared after flying into O’Hare a week ago is thanking the city of Chicago for helping find him.

It was last Wednesday when Matthew Fryslie flew into O’Hare. He was coming from Taiwan by way of San Francisco. And here, he was supposed to catch a flight to Des Moines. But, he never made it.

His brother Paul Fryslie said for six days Matthew walked the streets and twice was taken to one hospital and managed to walk out both times.

Then finally, during the storms that moved through, someone saw him sitting in the pouring rain  and got him to a hospital, again. This time his family was alerted.

Paul Fryslie said  family friends went to a thrift store to buy Matthew some clothes.

“It came out who it was for. And the guy said, ‘This is the guy on the news?’ “And he gave them a discount.  I was like, wow,” Paul Fryslie said.

Fryslie said his brother is safe now and he credits people in Chicago.
