CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Rev. Jesse Jackson and his wife, Jacqueline, are continuing to recover from COVID-19, according to their son, Jonathan Jackson.

The elder Jackson, who is in rehab, was vaccinated against COVID-19 while his wife, who is at home, was not.

Jonathan Jackson offered an update on his parents during the Rainbow/PUSH Saturday morning forum.

"My mother has returned home. She is out of the hospital. She is convalescing and regaining her strength. She has her humor back. She has some things to make clear that she's been gone for two weeks and she is so grateful to God. She shouts 'hallelujah" almost every 10th word that comes out of her mouth. She says she's a changed woman from the person that went in there to the person that's come out. She's grateful to her hospital workers and CNAs and doctors and persons that have given her assistance and have shown her kindness," Jackson said.

He said his father is gaining strength. Rev. Jackson, who's 79, is doing rehab at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
