ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A decision by the Cook County Assessor’s Office could force the Chicago Bears to call an audible in Arlington Heights.

The Assessor’s Office has reassessed the Arlington Heights land that the Bears want to develop at six times what it was last assessed at $197 million dollars versus $33 million.

Crain’s Business reports the new valuation is being appealed to the Cook County Board of Review. The Bears are said to be unhappy about the assessment, because it could raise the yearly property tax bill by more than $12 million dollars.

Assessor Fritz Kaegi based his reassessment on the $197 million dollar price tag that the Bears paid for the land.
