(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Lori Lightfoot says she’s optimistic her administration and the Chicago Teachers Union can reach an agreement for teachers to return to classrooms without a job action that could come as early as Wednesday.
Lightfoot on Monday very publicly received her first COVID-19 vaccination shot at St. Bernard Hospital in Englewood.
Vaccinations — or lack of their wider availability — is a major point for the CTU, whose members are leery of returning to in-person learning as the pandemic continues.
“We’ve had a lot of very productive conversations with the folks at CTU. They were literally bargaining every day over the weekend, all last week every day,” the mayor said.
“We’re going to continue to be at the table until we get a job done and get the remaining issues resolved.”
Lightfoot refused to say whether the city is prepared for a job action.
