CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Lovell Federal Health Care Clinic wanted to provide some much-needed entertainment for those at the Community Living Center, so the center organized an outdoor concert for Wednesday afternoon with singer and pianist, Eddie Domino.
“We were trying to think of ways to get them outside and get them to enjoy the weather before the winter time,” said Kenny List, Chief of Community Affairs.
Domino, who is an Army veteran, has worked in the Lovell Emergency Department as a Medical Support Assistant for 14 years.
He’s also the nephew of legendary musician Fats Domino and has been playing piano since he was 9 years old.
“My philosophy is that you get back what you put out into the world,” said Domino. “I just wanted people to enjoy themselves and I enjoy playing music.”
The setlist included early rock music and a few tributes to his uncle including the single, ‘Blueberry Hill’.
Domino tells WBBM he wanted to share his talents with fellow veterans who have been sheltered by COVID-19.
“I enjoy doing it and what better place to do it than for someone who wasn't able to do as much as we could do during the pandemic.”

“You can just see the smiles on their faces,” added List. “Music is the thing that everybody loves, especially if it's a song that you used to know that brings back memories.”
When he’s not putting on a show, Eddie can be found tickling the ivory keys late at night in the main lobby of the hospital.
