CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --- Barbie has taken over Chicago, as a new Malibu Barbie Cafe pop-up brings life in plastic to the West Loop.
“There’s just pure nostalgia and everything pink here,” says Grace Goodchild, a spokesperson for the Malibu Barbie Cafe.
The immersive dining experience is filled with beachy decor, a miniature roller rink, Barbie memorabilia, and a variety of Instagram-worthy photo ops. Bucket Listers, the team behind the Golden Girls Kitchen and Saved by the Max diner, teamed up with Mattel to create the 1970s inspired pop-up.

“My favorite part is the roller skating and the food and just being able to come back and really step into being a kid again, playing with your Barbies,” said Goodchild.
The cafe features a Barbie-inspired food and drink menu from “Master Chef” semi-finalist Becky Brown. It includes the Beach Burger, Pacific Paradise Rainbow Pancakes, and more. Officials said tables are fully booked for the next few weeks.

“I think everyone wants to just be a kid again, especially in the summer,” says Goodchild.
The cafe coincides with the new "Barbie" film, which stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling and opens in theaters in July.

The pop-up will remain open until Sept. 15. Each ticket includes a reserved seat and guaranteed window of time to dine, plus choice of entree.
Tickets are available now exclusively through Bucket Listers.
