Man charged in last week's backyard stabbing in Bolingbrook

BOLINGBROOK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Bolingbrook police have announced an arrest and charges for a stabbing that occurred in a home last Thursday.

Police said the man, 26-year-old Ivan Atilano, is an acquaintance of a woman who lives on the 100 block of Vernon Drive.

Officers responded to the home Just after midnight on Thursday after the woman said he showed up in the backyard and pushed past her when she went to speak with him.

Police said Atilano stabbed a man in the home multiple times and left on foot before police arrived. The man who was stabbed is now in stable condition.

Police got a warrant for Atilano’s arrest and he was caught four days later at a home in Romeoville.

He’s facing a number of felony charges, including attempted first degree murder. He does have a criminal past.
