(WBBM NEWSRADIO) –A man was last reported in critical condition after he was shot Friday during a struggle with Chicago Police in Morgan Park on the Far South Side.

Officers saw a person with a weapon on the sidewalk in the 1100 of West 111th around 5:30 p.m., Chicago Police Interim Supt. Fred Waller said. When the man fled into a residence, officers pursued him on foot and a struggle ensued over the weapon, he said.

Two shots were fired, and the subject was critically injured and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Waller said. The two officers were taken to the hospital for observation, he said.

“They’re both in good condition,” Waller said. A weapon was recovered at the scene, he said.

Further information was not available. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating the use of force.
