Hit-and-run in DuSable Lake Shore Drive construction zone leaves man dead

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police said a 45-year-old man was standing next to a street sweeper in a closed northbound lane of DuSable Lake Shore Drive when he was fatally hit by a car.

It happened just before 11 p.m. between Diversey Parkway and Belmont Avenue.

Police said the driver did not stop. The man was declared dead at the scene.

The hit-and-run took place in a construction zone, where the drive is being resurfaced. Following the hit-and-run, police described the car only as a black sedan.

CPD said the man was not a Department of Transportation worker.

The Major Accidents Unit is investigating the hit-and-run.
