(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A man was fatally shot outside an Illinois Secretary of State driver’s license bureau Wednesday afternoon in southwest suburban Bridgeview, and police took two suspects into custody.

The shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the DMV at 7368 W. 87th St., authorities said.

The shooting victim was transported to Christ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said. A spokesperson for Bridgeview identified the deceased as 21-year-old Jawaun L. Davis.

Bridgeview Police pursued a vehicle and about an hour later took two suspects into custody in Palos Hills, after a foot chase, officials said. The shooting was believed to have been a targeted attack, police said.

“It is a tragedy, but it is NOT a mass shooting similar to the unfortunate tragedies we have seen over the past few months across the country,” Bridgeview spokesperson Ray Hanania said in an email, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Two weapons were recovered, Hanania said. No further information was immediately available.

The Secretary of State facility will remain closed for the rest of the day.
