CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two alleged gunmen apparently did not count on the response of a victim late Wednesday night on the North Side, and now one of them is dead.
According to Chicago police, a 44-year-old man was on his porch in the 2900 block of North Wolcott Avenue in Lincoln Park when he heard a loud noise from the street around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday night.
As he approached the street, he saw two men underneath a car. The two men noticed him, crawled out, stood up, pulled out guns and started shooting, police said. But, according to police, the resident is a concealed carry holder and pulled out his own gun and shot back.
One of the gunmen was hit in the neck. The other one took off and has not been arrested.
The gunman who was shot has been identified as 25-year-old Darion Blackman. He was pronounced dead at Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
The resident was not injured. Detectives have questioned him.
