CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 44-year-old Schiller Park man faces a child-endangerment charge after allegedly leaving a 7-year-old boy in a vehicle while he went into a Des Plaines casino, police said.
The incident occurred Sunday evening when John D. Elliott arrived at the River’s Casino, Des Plaines police said in a news release. Elliott left the child in the vehicle around 7:30 p.m.
About 20 minutes later, the child approached casino security, “frantically crying and related his father was inside the casino gambling,” police said.
Elliott was detained, and Des Plaines police arrested him and charged him with endangering the life of a child, a misdemeanor, authorities said. He’s due in court next month.
