DOLTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - There was a shooting in a suburban church gymnasium Sunday, leaving one person dead, another person injured.
The shooting took place around 3 p.m. in the gym at the New Life Celebration of God Church on 142nd and Dante.
“Apparently, there was a basketball game or a practice basketball game taking place, and, from my understanding, there were two or three masked persons who ran inside and began firing weapons. And, one person was struck and all others scattered from the building,” Dolton Police Chief Robert Collins Jr. said.
In addition to the person who was killed, one person was badly cut while trying to escape the gunfire. Police said the shooting was not random.
