CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding a man wanted for a strong arm robbery of an elderly woman on board a CTA Red Line train last Saturday.

Police said, at around 1:00 p.m., the suspect approached the victim, an 80-year-old woman, while a CTA Red Line train was stopped at the Jarvis stop in Rogers Park, in the 1500 block of W. Jarvis Avenue. The woman was seated on the train when the suspect ripped a purse that was strapped around her neck area, according to police.

Detectives said the suspect’s snatch was so forceful that the woman was knocked to the ground and the suspect ran off with the woman’s purse.

CTA video surveillance cameras depict the suspect as a Black male, approximately 25-35 years of age. Those with any information about the alleged robbery are asked to call the Chicago police detectives at (312) 745-4706.
