Mass shooting in South Austin leaves 5 people hospitalized

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A mass shooting on Chicago’s West Side Sunday morning sends five people to the hospital.

The victims were sitting on a porch at around 3 a.m. near Iowa Street and Massasoit Avenue in South Austin when Chicago police say a white SUV pulled up, two males got out and started shooting.

By the time the shooters got back in the vehicle, five people were wounded.

A 20-year-old man was hit in the arm and the leg, an 18-year-old man in the back and three people in their 40s — a man and two women — were shot in the leg.

All are listed in serious condition.

Police are looking for the SUV, which headed west on Augusta Boulevard.
