An extra alarm fire overnight on the Northwest Side destroyed two businesses and left one person injured.

The 3-11 alarm fire destroyed the Twisted Hippo brewpub and the Ultimate Ninjas Chicago gym along Montrose Avenue at Richmond. The brewpub’s owner Marilee Rutherford tells CBS 2 she started the business three years ago to have a place for people in the community to gather. Now, she doesn’t know what’s going to happen.

"More than anything, I’m grateful that everyone’s okay and that we got to have this for as long as we did," Rutherford said. "We’ll see what the future holds. I just have no idea."

Rutherford says explosions people heard were likely the CO2/nitrogen tanks she uses in her business. Meanwhile, the Fire Department says a 60-year old man was taken to a hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
