(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayoral candidate Willie Wilson continued criticizing the Lightfoot administration Tuesday for what he says is the disenfranchisement of minority and ethnic communities.
Fewer polling places and fewer interpreters at locations, Wilson argues, amount to voter suppression. He was joined by representatives from some underserved communities.
“By limiting the language assistance, that’s a form of voter suppression,” said Zoey Mah of Chinatown.
In the Filipino community, Wilson said, polling places decreased from 17 to 1.
The Board of Elections says the criticisms are not backed by facts.
There will be foreign-language ballots, officials said, and the agency is looking for more bilingual election judges.
