(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – As the weather begins to break (or just about?), plenty of activities are available across the Chicago region. WBBM Newsradio’s Rachel Pierson has the weekend roundup.
--It’s the debut of Art on the MART's spring projection series. This year’s program features internationally renowned artist Derrick Adams through “Funtime Unicorn: Ruby Rides Through Four Seasons.” You’ll find a 25-foot-tall video installation on the side of the Merchandise Mart twice a night starting at 8:30 p.m.
--EXPO Chicago returns to Navy Pier this weekend for its 10th anniversary. The International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art hosts more than 170 of the world’s most prominent galleries and exhibitors.
--Ring in the Lao New Year during Lao Pi Mai at the Hatchery Chicago. Restaurant Laos to Your House offers a traditional communal-style spread. There will also be a mini bazaar featuring imported fabrics, teas and beauty products.
--The Chicago Latino Film Festival kicks off its 39th year, showcasing cinema from Latin America, Spain, Portugal and the U.S. After introducing a hybrid format last year, the event is returning as a fully in-person festival.
--You’ll find joy, love and heartache at Jagged Little Pill, the stage adaptation of Alanis Morissette's hit album. The Tony award-winning musical is playing through April 23 at the Nederlander Theatre.
--And spring is in full swing, so head to the Garfield Park Conservatory for its annual spring flower show. This year’s event, “Bee’s Knees”, peeks into the relationship between bees and blooms.
