Driver killed after truck collides with Metra Milwaukee North train

HAINESVILLE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Monday morning collision between a Metra train and a dump truck has left one person dead and another injured.

The crash was reported shortly before 7 a.m. The Metra District North Line train was headed inbound from Fox Lake when it struck a dump truck in Hainesville. The train partially derailed. According to Metra, the driver of the truck died while one of the roughly 40 passengers onboard was hurt and transported to a local hospital.

With an investigation being conducted, Trains are only running between Grayslake and Union Station on an abbreviated schedule.
