CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio) - Metra plans to install new, modern tracking screens at all train stations.
The Metra Board of Directors approved Wednesday a contract of up to $20 million to buy video monitors that will give riders up-to-the-minute train information based on the transit agency’s new tracking and communications system.
Eight stations, including Van Buren St. and McCormick Place, already have the weather-proof LCD monitors. Over the next three years, they will be installed at every other station. The busiest stations will be prioritized and will receive up to ten signs, while the less busier stations will have one to three.
The screens, supplied by Rockford’s Global Display Solutions Inc., will replace the older scrolling LED signs.
