(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police in the Southern Illinois city of Marion are getting a lot of traction from a picture posted on the department’s Facebook page following a recent traffic stop.

The picture shows two officers behind a desk. In front of the desk, on the floor, are three large clear bags – of marijuana. These are the size of large garbage bags.

Police wrote: “If you were curious how much cannabis you can transport in your car, the amount is NOT 82 pounds.”

Police say one of their officers pulled over a man for speeding in a construction zone. One bag reportedly was in view in the back seat.

A search turned up the other bags and additional marijuana products.

The driver, a 44-year-old man from Mississippi, is charged with trafficking, among other things.

So, how much marijuana can an adult legally transport in Illinois?

If you a resident of the state: 5 grams of cannabis concentrate; 500 milligrams of products infused with Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC; and 30 grams (0.0661387 pounds) of cannabis flower.

The products must in a sealed, odor-proof, child-proof, authorized dispensary container.

Non-residents are allowed half those amounts.
