CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The McHenry County Fairgrounds, an old TJ Maxx, and a vacant Joseph’s Marketplace are being considered for a mass vaccination site in McHenry County.
According to county officials, the Illinois National Guard will be deployed to McHenry County to help run a mass vaccination site. McHenry County Board Chairman Mike Buehler told the Northwest Herald additional doses will be provided by the state beyond the county’s normal vaccine allocation.
The McHenry County Department of Health, along with members of the National Guard, toured some potential sites on Thursday.
Potential site locations include the McHenry County Fairgrounds in Woodstock; an old T.J. Maxx building in Crystal Lake; and the vacant Joseph’s Marketplace in Crystal Lake, among others.
The new site would join two others run by McHenry County. Those sites are located at the old Kmart building in McHenry and the Harvard Moose Family Center in Harvard.
Buehler told the Northwest Herald the county is hopeful that members of the Illinois National Guard will be deployed to the county in two to three weeks. They will stay for a period of six to eight weeks.
