(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) brought punches, body slams and some high-flying wrestling action to Highland Park Saturday afternoon — all for a good cause.
The wrestling showcase will benefit Cooper Roberts, one of the youngest survivors of the July 4 Highland Park shooting.
All proceeds from donations, raffles and more will benefit the Roberts family, which has been raising money to help pay for the construction of a new, fully accessible home.
Smashing Pumpkins frontman and Highland Park resident Billy Corgan is president of the NWA and said the event promises “great wrestling for a great cause.”
The hourslong event, which began at 2 p.m., featured over a dozen wrestlers at the Recreation Center of Highland Park.
