CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Navy Pier is moving ahead with plans to reopen later this spring and is holding a job fair Monday from 3-7 p.m.
The job fair comes a month later than it usually does, as Navy Pier has been closed since Labor Day except for private businesses and a new hotel and restaurant that opened last month.
But now, Navy Pier spokeswoman Payal Patel said they’re looking to hire about 100 seasonal workers for when attractions reopen in the next few weeks. They are also looking to hire some social distancing ambassadors.
"This group specifically works to walk up and down the pier and check in on guests and provide resourceful information related to the pandemic and make sure folks are following our CDC guidelines," she said.
Those guidelines will include mandatory mask wearing and staying six feet apart from others not in your group. Patel said capacity guidelines will be enforced by zone at the pier.
Capacity limits on the pier extend even to the job fair, which filled up quickly so interested applicants will have to look for future opportunities.
Navy Pier hopes to have details about reopening soon.
