CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A 17-year-old was denied bail on Wednesday after being charged with shooting two teens in Hyde Park last month.
A group of students from Simeon High School were sitting in a parked car at a BP gas station on South Lake Park Avenue on September 21 when prosecutors say three other students from Kenwood Academy walked by.
The two groups exchanged looks and the Kenwood Academy students crossed the street towards a nearby McDonald's.
As the car started to drive away from the gas station, a 17-year-old Kenwood student, who was 16 at the time, allegedly fired shots at the vehicle, striking a 14-year-old in the leg and a 15-year-old in the head.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office says the entire exchange was caught on video.
The 15-year-old was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The 17-year-old suspect is now charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery. He's due back in court on November 1.
