(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police have announced charges against two people in the fatal shooting of a 9-year-old in a Skokie apartment building almost two weeks ago.

Richard T. Banks, 22, and 16-year-old Christian Anderson, both of Rogers Park, have been charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and aggravated battery.

Police say 9-year-old Jeremiah Ellis of Evanston was killed and his 5-year-old brother was wounded in a shooting in an apartment building near Main and Skokie Blvd shortly after midnight on May 14.

A judge denied bond for Banks and Anderson, who is charged as an adult. Police say they have a third suspect in custody but no charges yet.

They plan to discuss the case Friday.
