(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The sound of a blown tire Friday morning on I-55 near Burr Ridge may have led to the rumor – unfounded -- that someone shot at a school bus.
Illinois State Police say four students were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries about 10:15 a.m. after two school buses collided on southbound I-55, north of Route 83.
Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso tells WBBM Newsradio that one of the buses blew a tire.
Reports started coming in that shots were fired at a school bus.
But Mayor Grasso and Illinois State Police say there were no bonafide reports of any shots being fired.
Officials say the injuries to the four students were minor.
