CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - More students at a north side college will be working to prevent the next shortage of baby formula, semiconductors or steel.
North Park University is now accepting students for its new degree program in supply chain management.
Associate Dean of the School of Professional Studies Trevor James said the College of Lake County approached them looking for a place to send students with associate’s degrees to learn advanced level theory.
He said some of those professionals helped write the curriculum for the program he said is the most well-rounded business major North Park offers.
James anticipates graduates of the program will be able to get jobs in manufacturing, retail and warehousing as consumers continue to do more shopping online.
James said the Christian school stands out with its focus on ethics.
“Understanding that ethical framework for honest and transparent decision-making, we think that would help our current supply chain greatly, not to mention…pricing, price gouging,” James said.
He said the first graduates of the program could have their bachelor’s in two years, with the goal of getting them in the workplace as soon as possible.
Students in accounting or information technology would be good candidates for the major.
He said classes will start in the fall and will include online and evenings options for working adults.
