CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The pastor of a North Side church said two women vandalized the church this week because the church supports a woman’s right to choose an abortion.

Video taken by someone who lives next to the Second Unitarian Church of Chicago in Lakeview shows two women walking up to and damaging the sign that read “We support abortion on demand without apology" and then throwing stones and breaking a stained glass window.

Rev. Jason Lydon said the sign has been up since the overturning of Roe vs Wade.

"I would love to have an opportunity to have a conversation with these two women rather than respond to a message that you disagree with with vandalism," he said.

"There’s an opportunity here for conversation."

Lydon said a police report was filed and to his knowledge, no one has been arrested. He said the sign is back up, but the stained glass window is not yet repaired.
