CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police arrested a former pastor at the Salvation Army Mayfair Community Church last week on allegations of sexually abusing a minor.
The man in question, John Kim, has been charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a minor, CBS 2 reported.
The station reported that Kim was arrested last week, though the charges stem from a time when he was leading the church near Argyle Street and Pulaski Road.
It’s not clear whether the abuse involved a child at Mayfair Community.
In a statement, Salvation Army officials said the 47-year-old Kim no longer works at the church and that they are aware of the allegations against him.
Officials added that they make every effort to prevent, detect and promptly respond to any reports of misconduct.
