Off-duty Chicago cop involved in Stevenson Expressway shooting that leaves woman critically wounded: ISP

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A woman has been critically injured in an expressway shooting involving an off-duty Chicago police officer.

It happened just after 10 p.m. Thursday night in the northbound lanes of the Stevenson Expressway near Archer. The woman was transported to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition.

Illinois State Police said it may have been a case of road rage. Police said two cars were involved. The woman shot was in one car with another person; the off-duty officer was in another vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking for anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward.
